Data from SA from last two days, in terms of declining positivity rate and declining hospitalization rates, are quite encouraging that the so-called Omicron wave is already petering out. Stay tuned. Similar dynamics may well unfound in UK and other countries. Agree with you that BJ's "boost them all" approach is sheer idiocy. In US, the FDA's advisory panel voted in Sept. 16-2 against boosters for under 65s and yet FDA went ahead and approved anyway! Can we all say together "regulatory capture"?
At Thanksgiving my vaxxed nephew gave my unvaxxed eldest son covid. Then tried to blame my son. Nephew's girl got boosted that week, poor simple thing, and immediately got covid after having a few days of bad side effects from the booster. Son's vaxxed girl wanted nothing to do with him when he tested positive, so he came home at our insistence to recuperate with us, his unvaxxed parents who'd had covid. Three days of horse paste, etc and he was pretty much done with it.
Meanwhile the cowering vaxholes (you may opt for the vaccines and still not be a vaxhole but ..) were laughing at ivermectin and saying: we'll stick with the vaccines, they work about as well as the flu vaccines.
I think I see a parting of mankind into two groups unless we learn to talk to each other. I suggested that ivermectin and vaccines are not mutually exclusive. No reply.

"Variants" are just ways of laundering illnesses and deaths caused by the "vaccines" aka genetic poison clot shots, just like "COVID" was a way of laundering deaths from all other causes (flu, beetus, afib, ladder falls, motorcycle accidents, old age, etc.).
That is why "delta" showed up in the first wave of the clot shot and "omigod" showed up during the rollout of boosters.
Saying that there is "a several week period when they are uniquely vulnerable to infection" is beyond naive - that is merely the period where most of the adverse events from the clot shot occur.
There is a risk with relying on the data from SA suggesting that Omicron is less likely to result in serious disease -- they've got high levels of natural immunity (not vaccine), are younger, and, IMO most importantly of all, they're in the middle of summer which is when upper respiratory tract infections are generally mild. This latter point is almost certainly why we in the UK (and Europe in general) have had a relatively low number of hospitalisations/deaths since vaccination started. This is probably linked with vitamin D levels, but that's a moot point because people aren't being advised by national authorities to take high levels of vitD.
It is worth pointing out that one of the other places where ADE was found is with many of the candidate vaccines for SARS-COV-1. Eg, see Yang et al, 2005, which used viral a vector vaccine approach (https://www.pnas.org/content/102/3/797). Of course, these were in animals and we don't know whether we'd have seen the enhanced disease if the vaccine candidate was used in humans for SARS-COV-1... but then that's the point of doing rigorous early stage trials -- it would be mad to try out these candidate vaccines on a large scale in humans before fully identifying risks that might emerge perhaps 12 months after vaccination.
The evidence thus far, objectively speaking, is that in the real world, boosters appear at best to be totally ineffective against omicron. (Unless there is somehow a demographic of unvaccinated or twice-vaccinated people with severe disease from omicron that is escaping detection. Unlikely.)
These political leaders remind me of that driver who wants to avoid sitting in traffic. Moving, he reasons, is better than not moving, and so he takes a long and circuitous detour, quadrupling the duration of his trip. My fear is that they may just end up crashing us all into a tree before we can even reach our final destination.

Let us see what happens, because I am getting very different inputs about Xi(Omicron)'s severity. Some people say it is super-mild, yet Igor ythinks it will be very serious...

When you mix science and politics, you end up with politics. There was never any science applied to the reaction to the CCP virus.
